A Bit About Us
Consult Your Community Nationals
Consult Your Community is a national non-profit organization that provides pro-bono consulting to low-income small business owners in college communities across America. Originally founded by undergraduate students at UC Berkeley in 2013, the organization and its powerful mission have now spread to over 30 of the top universities across the nation, inspiring communities into action.
Through semester-long, skills-based consulting projects, college students are mobilized to leverage their education, digital fluency, mentorship networks, and knowledge as customers to empower small business owners. While driving change in their communities in environments of inclusive collaboration, students also gain hands-on business experience and develop skills that prepare them for their future careers.
CYC has empowered over 300+ students across the country to work with mentors from top firms and faculty to provide and implement strategies for 90+ small to medium-sized enterprises annually. Our students give approximately 20,000 hours of pro bono counsel a year.
NC State Chapter
Our chapter was founded in 2016 by Hunter Davis and Tanner Purvis who saw a need in the Raleigh community. Starting off strong with 25 student consultants, we have since grown to over 45 members and counting. From 4 engagements per semester to now 7 per semester, we have helped over 80 small businesses and non-profits total and added 36,500+ hours of pro-bono consulting to the Raleigh community.
We are proud to be the first university chapter in North Carolina and first organization at NC State University to serve our community through student-led pro-bono consulting for small business and nonprofit owners.
